Juice For Fasting – Best Foods To Eat Following A Juice Fast

A juice fast sounds cheap until you price the cart. Fresh produce for five or six juices a day, run through a decent juicer, costs more per week than most people expect — and it spoils in days, so there's no buying ahead.

Work out the real cost before committing. A juicing week usually needs 2-3kg of mixed fruit and vegetables daily: oranges, carrots, apples, greens, ginger. At Malaysian wet-market or supermarket prices that's easily RM25-40 a day once you include the produce you'll toss because it browned before you got to it. Multiply by five days and a short "cleanse" runs RM125-200, plus the electricity and cleanup time a juicer adds.

Compare that to a whole-food approach built around dates. A 500g pack of Gred A kurma keeps for weeks unrefrigerated, needs no prep, and gives you fibre the juice strips out — juicing removes the pulp along with most of the fibre, which is why a glass of juice digests fast and leaves you hungry again within the hour. Dates don't.

Building a break-fast plate around dates instead of a juice-only day: 3-4 dates first, a glass of water, then a normal small meal within the hour — rice, protein, vegetables. No blending, no juicer to wash, no produce that goes off before you use it.

If you do want the fasting-and-cleanse routine but want to keep cost down, treat dates as the anchor food and juice as the extra, not the whole plan. Buy dates in bulk from a wholesaler rather than small retail packs — the per-kg price drops noticeably at 5kg+, and unlike fresh juice ingredients, none of it goes to waste.

Kurma Piarom Malaysia stock moves through wholesale buyers doing exactly this kind of bulk planning — it's worth checking current grade and price before you build a week's menu around fresh produce that won't keep.
