7 Super Foods For Quick Weight Loss

[caption id="attachment_2720" align="alignnone" width="300"]high-protein and high-fibre foods used in a calorie-controlled diet lot of dried sweet fruits on asian plates[/caption]

Weight loss comes down to a calorie deficit, full stop — but which foods you build that deficit around decides whether you're hungry all the time or not. The foods below share one trait: they're satisfying relative to how many calories they carry.

Turkey and other lean meats give you protein without much fat riding along, which matters if you're watching total calories closely.

Sweet potatoes have more fibre than a regular white potato of the same size, so they digest more slowly and hold off hunger longer.

Edamame and other soy-based snacks bring plant protein plus fibre in a portion small enough to eat between meals.

Plain kefir or yogurt drinks give you protein in liquid form, useful when you don't have time to sit down for a full meal.

Cucumbers and celery are almost entirely water. They're good for the physical act of chewing something when a craving hits, at almost no calorie cost.

Almond butter, used sparingly, is calorie-dense but the fat and protein combination slows digestion, which is why a spoonful on an apple slice feels like more than the apple alone.

Dates fit into this same group differently — not because they're low-calorie, they aren't, but because their natural sweetness and fibre make them a reasonable one- or two-piece substitute for a processed dessert. Treat the portion the way you would treat any dried fruit: a couple of pieces, not a full serving of a whole packet.

The seven foods here aren't a plan by themselves. Used consistently, in reasonable portions, alongside regular activity, they make sticking to a calorie deficit less of a fight.
